Bonjour Paris,
I’m not writing this from my bed as usually. I’m feeling rather lazy and like doing nothing after yesterday’s barbecue and karaoke party until late in Notting Hill, but the urge to write to you, if only out of love, care and trust, is also strong and sure. So, I got up, and got out of my comfort zone, to my desk, when, after five seconds of opening it, the computer was dead.
Don’t get me wrong; I feel good. Yes, there’s been a water supply problem on the pier, but I got to shower at my friend’s yesterday in exchange for my fabulous presence at the party. Only joking – it wasn’t an exchange; both were given with pleasure independently from one another, and that’s just how I like it. I feel calm and content and I accept that being happy is my natural state. I’m just not quite excited yet at the moment.
I’m listening to my body, and I’m pretty sure my body is listening to my mind. Oops! A tightening sensation just crept on to the back of my neck – wasn’t there when I meditated first thing earlier. Is it from getting up or from getting out of my comfort zone? What was I thinking just then? Either way, let me take a deep breath and restore my joy. Ah, my body does listen to my mind.
Joy is better than calm contentment, for sure, and I am often willing to do nothing to achieve it. When I do nothing, it is intentional – often more intentional than when my undiagnosed ADHD self does something, however overthinking I could be. When I do nothing, it is because something is either beyond my control or I’m allowing it to be – for best results.
Here I am, intentionally writing to you – clearly I don’t see this as beyond my control or something I’d like to allow it to be. I’m writing to you out of love, out of care, out of trust that a new understanding is imminent. And you’ve never betrayed my trust. You’ve never let me down, for the Paris I imagine is perfectly aligned with my freedom and love, with my vision of growth, with my joy.
I am already doing nothing about our physical distance – for best results, but we’re growing together energetically too so I am happy to facilitate our energetic connection through this writing however inconvenient those ten steps from the bed to the desk were – yes, I counted!
My heartbeat is so regular I can hardly feel it. I’m just being aware and not taking for granted stillness and nothing, which makes me more ready for and appreciate more mindfully every happening, every something. I’m smiling, Paris. I can feel the gap between calm contentment and pure joy is getting smaller and smaller. Let’s do nothing!
